UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND BUDGET CENTRAL

From the Office of the President

Dear University of Maryland Family:

As you know, the University is faced with significant budget reductions handed down from the State. To deal with current and upcoming budget cuts, this website has been established to share budget and furlough news from the President's Office and news coverage by local media. The website provides a University Budget Primer, as well as resources to help faculty, staff and students handle these tough economic times.

The website also provides opportunities to share ideas for cost-saving and revenue generation, and to view responses to the most frequent budget suggestions. Sharing ideas that work will help the University operate more efficiently and effectively. Many of these strategies will be featured on this website, and I hope they will be useful to the entire University.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the University and for your understanding of the actions we must take to address these challenging times.

C. D. Mote, Jr.
President
